ARSENAL

El Arsenal Football Club es un club de fútbol profesional con sede en Holloway, Londres, Inglaterra. Juega en la Premier League y su antecesor desde 1919/20, siendo el equipo más longevo en primera división, y uno de los equipos con más trofeos ganados del fútbol inglés. Ha ganado 13 títulos de Primera División y 12 Copas de Inglaterra. Es el único conjunto inglés que consiguió ganar la Premier League de manera invicta (temporada 2003/04).

El Arsenal fue fundado en 1886 en Woolwich, en el sudeste de Londres. En 1893, se convirtió en el primer club del sur de Inglaterra en unirse a la Football League. En 1913 se mudaron a la parte norte de la ciudad hacia Highbury con sede en el Arsenal Stadium. En 2006 dejaron Highbury para jugar sus partidos de local en el nuevo Emirates Stadium, en Islington.

En la temporada 1970/71 consiguieron el título de liga y copa. En los años 1990 y la primera década del siglo XXI, repitieron dos dobletes, obtuvieron la Recopa de Europa de 1993/94 y llegaron a la final de la Liga de Campeones de la UEFA, donde fueron derrotados por el Barcelona de España.

El Arsenal tiene una vieja rivalidad con sus vecinos del norte, el Tottenham Hotspur, la cual se denomina el Derbi del Norte de Londres.2 Arsenal fue el tercer club de fútbol más caro en 2010 valuado en 1.181 millones de dólares3 y fue miembro del extinto grupo G-14.
