Sommer represented Wanderers in 2001, making just one appearance during an emergency loan spell from New England Revolution, before returning to the United States after picking up an injury.
His only outing for the club came in an FA Cup tie against Blackburn Rovers, which ended in a 1-1 draw at the Reebok Stadium.
